Walk the Walk group photo

How it all started

In 2003 Joseph Vella wanted to challenge himself to walk from Mellieha all the way to Senglea (Isla), He asked his son in-law Glenn Buttigieg to join him for a walk. Although Glenn did not know where he was headed, he accepted. Pushing their limit further and further the two managed to reach Senglea (Isla).

The following year Joseph & Glenn were determined to walk to Senglea again, this time they encouraged some friends to join along.

The walk kept on being organised each year, friends brought along their friends and the walk kept on growing each year.

In 2009 Joseph Vella took the walk to the next level and organised it as a national fund raising event.

As the years progressed the number of people attending the event went up from 2 family members to over 10,000 people.

For many this is a long night walk for a good cause as for others this entails months of preparation and voluntary work.
